I love coming to AoIR to learn about the latest research at the intersections of critical media studies and the sociology of computing and information. I'm especially looking for research on the role of the digital in emergent social movements among diverse young people. I'm also looking for some exciting new ideas to incorporate into my Innovations in Media class at the University of Denver (Department of Media, Film, & Journalism Studies). I continue to love to talk with others about media & young newcomers to storytelling about political/social movements, diverse families & digital media (The Parent App: Understanding Families in a Digital Age, OUP 2014; coauthor on Media, Home, & Family, Routledge 2004), and the digital in relation to world religions & justice (From Angels to Aliens: Teenagers, the Media, & the Supernatural, OUP 2005; Ed., Religion, Media, & the Marketplace, Rutgers 2007). Or if you just want to commiserate about or celebrate the joys administrivia and the paltry academic job market, come see me.
